Professor Yang's group is oriented to the national strategic needs, aiming at the international frontier, focusing on the scientific issues of preparing high-performance functional materials from mineral resources, and systematically researching new theoretical and new methods for mineral functional materials. The main research fields include mineral materials, environmental materials, new energy materials, Biomedical materials, new lithium batteries, materials calculation and design, solid waste recycling, etc.The team relies on the strong strength of "materials science and engineering" and "mining engineering", two national "double first-class" construction disciplines of central south university, establishing the key laboratory of clay mineral functional materials in China's building materials industry, Hunan key laboratory of mineral materials and its application, Hunan International Joint Laboratory of Mineral Materials.These prove that we have superior experimental conditions.In addition, we also have long-term exchanges and cooperation with the world-class universities such as the University of California at Davis, the University of Bristol, the University of Alberta in Canada, and the University of Queensland, and jointly cultivates graduate students to build a world-class international technology innovation cooperation base for mineral materials.

There are 10 professors and associate professors in our team, including National “Millions of Plan” leading talents, Distinguished Young Scientist, Leading Talents in Scientific and Technological Innovation of the Young and Middle-aged, State Council Special Allowance Specialist, and New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education. Our team has presided over China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, The National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program, The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Project), the Ministry of Education Key Project, and the Hunan Provincial Key Research and Development Program. More than 200 SCI papers have been published in internationally renowned journals such as Adv. Funct., Mater., Chem. Mater., J. Phys. Chem. Lett. (There are 6 Nature index journals, 6 cover and review articles, and 8 ESI highly cited articles).Our team has won 2 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level natural sciences, 2 first prizes for scientific and technological inventions, 2 first prizes for excellent books, 6 monographs for teaching materials, 45 invention patents, and 2 international PCT patents. At present, there are 8 postdoctorals and 70 postgraduates. Graduates have won 16 National Natural Science Foundation awards and 5 provincial excellent dissertation awards.
